My November Quilt of the Month is on it's way to AAQI!
12,614 - Imperfectly Perfect in Every Way! Michele Bilyeu
Salem, OR USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 11.5"
Designer: Original design
Materials/Techniques: Free-form cutting, piecing, and hand quilting of Asian fabrics with perle cotton stitches and glass beads.
Artist Statement: Using my own form of liberated and free-form-improvisational piecing and quilting, I wanted to capture, as well as contrast, the perfection of the form and design of the Geisha with the random and free-wheeling imperfection of free form flying geese with the large bauble effect of glass beads.
Dedication: For my beloved mother who loved all things Asian, as she went from never feeling perfect in any way.... to being totally perfect in her very own special, and unique way. Advanced Alzheimer's disease has stolen all that she was, and had...physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Nevertheless, her inner spirit is still apparent to those of us who know and love her.
And she joins my October Quilt of the Month!
